Just wanted to share two things. First, the weather here:
Next, a text I got from Eric at about 9:30pm:
“It was like 80 degrees today you should have stayed…”
Damn you Michigan!

Well here’s an interesting concept… a 7-inch secondary monitor (or tertiary, or whatever) that hooks up via USB. Resolution is 800×480, which isn’t too bad for small windows that clutter up your main display. For me, things like Adium and Tweetdeck would most likely migrate over there. D-Link’s version, shown in the post and above, is a rebranding of the Nanovision Mimo UM-710, which has been featured on Engadget before, including a hands-on review. Pricing comes in at $129.99, which seems a bit steep personally. For that amount, I can pass it off as a pricey novelty. But at say $50 or $75? Then I would need to have a serious talk with my wallet
And by the way, this thing has two siblings, one which adds a webcam and a mic, and another which further adds a touchscreen(!) to the mix.

BBGadgets has a nice post about an app that was just released for the iPhone via the app store: Slacker Radio. From the sound of it, if you love Pandora (which I do), you’ll love this. The app seems to be based on 100 “stations” in different genres, and can stream from what is no doubt a ginormous song library. Streaming is even said to work over edge(!) for you Kalamazoo folk. Slacker also makes its own hardware device called the G2 that can buffer a good chunk of music for when you’re away from a data connection. This would obviously be a welcome addition to the iPhone app, but I’ve got a feeling Apple’s stranglehold on developers has something to do with that. There’s an iTunes link at the bottom of the BBG post, and I’ll put up more when I get a chance to play with the thing.

Well it looks like another great web service is going the way of a premium-only service. At least it’s not as severe as Sandy shutting down, but it’s still upsetting.
The free version of Jott is going to end on February 2, CEO John Pollard told me today. The terrible advertising market, he says, means every customer has to pay their own way from now on. Customers will need to pay $4/month to continue the service, the current price for a premium account. This includes users of the Jott iPhone application.

I’m playing around with Blogo, a desktop app to author and edit posts. I have to say that I like what I see. Give the trial a spin:

I came across this site while looking for William Shatner on Twitter. It aggregates celebrities on twitter (web and otherwise) into one fancy looking stream. I’ve already found a few fun ones to follow:
@WilliamShatner
@schwarzenegger
@borat
@SaraBareilles
@TinaFey
Check it out, it’s quite addicting

I’ve been having dreams that I was still in San francisco. But alas, I wake up disappointed. We should make the trip again next year and everyone should come! Booking it soon will hopefully save us a lot of dinero. Let me know what you think
Yeah… this was pretty much across the street from our hotel in SF. We picked up the bus towards Moscone from right outside

Via a random tweet encountered while searching for MWSF parties tonight:
“Free is a very compelling price point”
I haven’t been keeping up with the photos and videos we have been collecting this week but this one is really worth putting up here. I hope you enjoy it, I’m certainly pleased with how it turned out

I’ll put up a larger version when I can
